What is COLOR?
Rubí is a lively city, shining and colorful. And it has been since its origins: its name derives from the ancient Latin name Rivo Rubeo, which described the color of the clay-filled soil of its riverbeds. Even today, we still feel linked to this deep red color.
With the initiative COLOR, Rubí claims color as a distinguishing trait of its identity, a symbol of its diversity – over 100 nationalities live together harmoniously in the city – but also of the creativity and talent walking its streets. It is a color that unites tradition and modernity, which is history but especially the future, imbuing the public space with life and making it more attractive to the people living here.
Based on these reasons, the Rubí Town Council promoted a series of actions in public spaces during 2020, which all feature color as their common denominator. As the clear and obvious choice, they were created at the hands of the edRa Art & Design School, which was in charge of coding the colors that would define us as a city and expressing them in a new symbol: the image of a precious stone from above. We also relied on the essential contributions of local artists, who have converted the buildings and streets into large-scale canvases.
But COLOR does not stop here. It wants to cross borders, be a vehicle for values and emotions, and become a bond and connection between cities.
We fill life with colors!
